Sacred Music Concert

Newly transcribed eighteenth-century works from the Mdina Cathedral Archives

7 November 2026

An Evening of Baroque Music

On the 7th of November, a special sacred music concert will be presented featuring newly transcribed eighteenth-century works preserved at the Mdina Cathedral Archives. The concert forms part of an ongoing effort to study, preserve, and revive Malta's rich musical heritage, bringing to life compositions that have remained silent in manuscript form for centuries.

Through detailed archival research and transcription work, these manuscripts can once again be performed in their original liturgical and musical context. This concert not only celebrates the artistic legacy preserved within the Cathedral Archives but also highlights the importance of archival musicology and performance practice in rediscovering Malta's musical past.
